BREAKING NEWS - Out of The Shadows going on Screen

This is definitely a Breaking kind of news, but let me give you a little background.

 I watched an episode of The Maid a couple of years ago, and it really opened my eyes to the realities of domestic violence, now referred to as intimate partner violence. As an advocate and survivor, I was impressed by how respectfully and thoughtfully they portrayed the main character's story.

For years, I hesitated when opportunities arose to bring my own story to the big screen for various reasons. However, The Maid inspired me to consider sharing my experience more openly.

Coincidentally, in the same week that I decided to be more open, I received an email from Michael at Dept.9 Studios in Canada. He shared that they had read my memoir and believed it was a powerful story that deserved to be told on screen. They wanted to know if I would be interested in having a meeting.

During our first meeting, I was instantly impressed by the team. They are genuine, kind-hearted, and truly committed to the cause. It was essential for me to find a team that would handle my story with dignity and respect, and I felt reassured after our conversation.

I’m grateful that this wonderful team is dedicated to telling my story and raising awareness about human trafficking. As we've gotten to know each other, I feel confident that my story is in capable hands and will make it to the screen. I understand the challenges involved—financially, emotionally, and mentally—and recognize that many film and TV projects don’t even reach this stage.

I'm hopeful for what lies ahead.
