Unconventional Survival Strategies: What Worked for Me

I wrote an article yesterday about vicarious trauma and how we are all experiencing it by being exposed to the Epstein content. While it is essential for society to be informed about the horrific crimes committed against humanity—against women, men, and children—we also need to find a way to make sense of this trauma, just as we do with any other traumatic events that impact us personally.

From my own experience, I believe that trauma and traumatic events are unavoidable. Now, more than ever, we need to learn how to manage our emotions and lives and find a way to move forward, no matter what life throws our way.

In this article, I’d like to share my perspective and coping mechanisms for dealing with traumatic events. I want to offer a heads-up that what follows may not be what you expect. You might read the first sentence and think, “Oh no, she’s lost her mind. That’s too bad; I really liked her.” But please, give it a moment. Take it all in and reflect on this theory once you have absorbed it.

About 20 years ago I came across a documentary called Secret. A documentary featuring scientists and quantum physicists teaching about science, energy, and universal laws.

One sentence really got to me from one of the teachers: You can think this is all crazy and keep doing the same and have the same life with the same outcomes (which in my case was no longer an option), or you can try it our way and see what happens. What can you lose?

According to very smart people like Tesla and Einstein and many more, we are living in a universe that is based on energy, including us. We are all energy in an energetic world that surrounds us. This does not de-announce God or religion, quite the opposite. But that is a different conversation. During my research I stumbled upon the 12 Universal Laws.

Stay with me; don’t give up just yet.:-)

The concept of the 12 Universal Laws is rooted in various spiritual, philosophical, and metaphysical traditions, rather than being pinpointed to a specific discovery date or individual. These laws, such as the Law of Attraction and the Law of Vibration, have been synthesized from numerous sources over centuries, including ancient spiritual texts, modern psychology, and self-help literature.

While many proponents of the Universal Laws emphasize their connections to New Thought philosophy from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the specific articulation of "12 Universal Laws" as a cohesive set isn't attributed to a single discoverer. Instead, it has evolved through the works of various authors, teachers, and spiritual leaders over time.

The laws that got me the most were the laws of attraction and the laws of rhythm.

The Law of Rhythm is the one that, if you study and understand and learn how to live with it, can truly transform your life no matter what level of trauma or struggles you are facing. For me, as soon as I fully understood this law (regardless of whether I believed that it is real or not,) I applied the methods to my life, and I was able to fully release my victim mentality, which was one of my biggest blocks and which held me back for decades from creating the life I have today.

The law of rhythm basically is: What goes up must come down. When it rains, it pours.

Basically what it says is that no matter what you do, you will experience ups or downs. This much I’m sure you can all relate to. When I learned about this new law, I re-evaluated my past, and I examined some of the stages in my life, mainly the ones when I went downhill and it just kept getting worse over and over again. Sure, I had some good days, but I mainly faced obstacles and struggles. So when I applied this new understanding to my life, it was absolutely 100% crystal clear that this law is actually real. As real as I am sitting here writing these words.

So what is the law, and how can you use it to heal or stop the aftermath of trauma from going from bad to worse or for making it last much longer than it should?

The Law of Rhythm suggests that everything in the universe functions through natural cycles, which can be seen as a back-and-forth motion, like a swinging pendulum. This principle, one of the seven Hermetic laws, highlights that nothing remains unchanged; life is always moving through various predictable phases.

Key Points of the Law of Rhythm:

  • Pendulum Effect: Just like a pendulum, when something swings toward one side, it inevitably returns to the other. The extent of one swing is usually equal to the other.

  • Cyclical Life: Every aspect of life—emotions, relationships, finances—goes through cycles.

  • Temporary Nature: Both the peaks and valleys are fleeting; what goes up will come down and vice versa.

  • Flow with the Cycle: Embracing the rhythm of life can help you stay balanced and grow, rather than resisting the low times.

  • Balanced Perspective: Recognizing that both positive and negative experiences are part of life can help maintain calm and peace.

How to Use the Law of Rhythm:

  1. Identify Your Cycles: Pay attention to your emotional and work cycles to understand where you are.

  2. Rest in Low Times: Use periods of low energy to recharge and reflect instead of fighting against them.

  3. Take Advantage of Highs: When you're feeling energized, make the most of that time to be productive without worrying about when it will change.

  4. Maintain Composure: Strive for a balanced outlook, knowing that a downturn can set the stage for a brighter phase ahead.

For me, the most important part I had to learn and practice every single time the cycle changed is to recognize where I am in the cycle, and if we are going downhill at the time, just relax and stop putting emotions towards it, stop reacting with negativity, and stop resisting, because that is what makes it last much longer and that is also what makes it worse. Much worse.

The most important thing I applied out of this knowledge that changed my life almost immediately is:

  • Flow with the Cycle: Embracing the rhythm of life can help you stay balanced and grow, rather than resisting the low times.

·        Rest in Low Times: Use periods of low energy to recharge and reflect instead of fighting against them.

If you're interested in further exploring how to apply the Law of Rhythm in your life, consider observing your own patterns more closely or journaling about your experiences during different phases.

By applying these methods to my life, especially when I was experiencing traumatized events, I managed to at least transform my ups and downs from extremes to manageable. It doesn’t mean nothing bad ever happens to me; it means that when it does, I have control over how I react, and knowing that my reaction can make it worse or better definitely gives me comfort and hope and makes me feel like there isn’t anything I can’t face that I won’t be able to handle.

It also helps me at least understand my life much better, and instead of feeling fear of when the shoe is going to drop, I feel peaceful fully knowing that it is not a matter of if, but a matter of when, and when it drops, I know how to navigate through, and that is the biggest gift and tool I could have ever asked for.

As always, I say, take what resonates and leave the rest:-)
